Professor Chen Zhiwu

Professor Chen Zhiwu (陈志武) has served as our independent non-executive Director since March 2021. Professor Chen is a director of the Asia Global Institute and Chair Professor of Finance and the Victor and William Fung Professor in Economics at the University of Hong Kong since July 2016. Previously, Professor Chen was a professor of finance at Yale University for 18 years until 2017. He was also a special-term visiting professor at Peking University (School of Economics) and Tsinghua University (School of Social Sciences). Professor Chen was a PACAP Research Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States from 1994 to 1995. Professor Chen received the Graham and Dodd Award for his research in 2013. Professor Chen has served as an independent director and chairman of the corporate governance and nominating committee of Noah Holdings (NYSE: NOAH), since December 2013. Previously, Professor Chen was an independent non-executive director of IDG Energy Investment Limited (formerly known as Shun Cheong Holdings Limited) (HKEX: 650) from July 2015 to October 2018, Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. (HKEX: 3328) from August 2010 to August 2018 and PetroChina Company Limited (HKEX: 857) from May 2011 to June 2017. Professor Chen received his Ph.D. from Yale University in the United States, in December 1990.
